M.Ed. Elementary Education & Pennsylvania State PreK-4 Certification (Dual Special Education PreK-8 certification option available)

This 42-credit (minimum) program prepares students for Pennsylvania Level I certification as PreK-4 teachers and leads to the awarding of a master’s degree in Elementary Education.  Thirty (30) credits minimum is required for the master’s degree.  Dual certification in PreK-4 and Special Education PreK-8 is an option for 12 additional credits (54 credit hours).

Five-Year Bachelor's plus Master's & Pennsylvania Teacher Certification

Lehigh University undergraduate students can earn their Bachelor's and Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree in Elementary Education or Secondary Education plus Pennsylvania Teacher Certification in 5 years.  We are accredited by the Pennsylvania Department of Education to certify general education teachers in the following areas:

M.Ed. Secondary Education & Pennsylvania State 7-12 Certification (M.A. and Dual Special Education 7-12 certification options available)

This 33 credit (minimum) program of study prepares students for Pennsylvania Level I certification as secondary content-area teachers in one of the subject areas below and leads to eligibility for a master’s degree in secondary education:

M.Ed. or M.A. Teaching and Learning

Master of Education (M.Ed.) or Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Teaching and Learning (30 credit hour minimum). The 30 credit degree program comprises a 15 credit core (5 courses) and 15 credits of electives (5 courses).

Technology Use in the Schools Certificate (Online + Face-to-Face)

A 12-credit Lehigh Certificate program aimed at post-certification inservice teachers, informal educators, and others seeking to expand their pedagogical skills and knowledge of instructional technology.  Note: a Lehigh Certificate of Completion is not the same as a Pennsylvania Department of Education Certification.

Ph.D. Teaching, Learning, & Technology

The doctorate in Teaching, Learning, and Technology (TLT) is a 48-credit, post master's Ph.D. program. The TLT Ph.D. program employs a scientist/practitioner model of learning. That is, research is not separate from application or practice.
